BENEFITS OF DANCE FOR CHILDREN.

6 BENEFITS

Dance helps build confidence

In early childhood, a key benefit of dance is confidence. Learning a new skill is an excellent way to build confidence and self-esteem. Young children who attend dance lessons know they have the ability to master something new. They will learn that with practice and dedication, they can improve anything.

Encouraging a young child to get involved in dance also helps them learn how to perform in front of an audience. Learning at an early age how to confidently perform will bring countless benefits later in life, such as reducing shyness, being more comfortable when public speaking or not being intimidated to try new things.

Dance helps improve cognitive skills

Dancing, specifically paired with music, can help improve neurological function. Music stimulates children’s brains, which can help them improve their cognitive skills as they grow. Children can learn how to focus, work with musicality and improve their memory as they figure out new steps and routines.

Practicing dance regularly can also improve discernment and spatial awareness.

Dance boosts creativity

Dance offers a creative outlet, perfect children with lots of energy! Attending dance classes regularly offers somewhere positive for children to channel their energy.

Dance promotes physical health

The most obvious benefit of dance is the physical. Dance gets children moving and gaining strength in a way they enjoy, demonstrating to them from an early age that exercise can and should be fun.

Dance encourages socialization

One of the best things about dancing for kids is the social benefits! Children have the opportunity to get comfortable meeting new friends and trying new things in front of their peers. Positive communication is a skill gained during a dance class and how to work together in a group towards goals—all positive skills to take forward in life.

Dance encourages commitment

Dance classes prepares children for good habits. In addition to being a fun, confidence building activity, dance teaches children how to get into a routine, persevere and work towards goals. Whether being on time to class or learning how to prepare before a show, children who dance understand how to commit to something and work hard at it. This is a great skill to have throughout life.
